On 24 May 2012, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece visited the Cathedral of Christ the Saviour. His Holiness showed the high guests the upper church of the cathedral.

A solemn reception on the occasion of the Name Day of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill was given at the Cathedral’s Refectory Chambers. His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos, members of the Holy Synod and other hierarchs of the Russian Orthodox Church, as well as representatives of the Local Orthodox Church attended.

On behalf of the Holy Synod, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, greeted the Primates of the Russian and Greek Orthodox Churches with the Ascension of the Lord and the commemoration day of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Equal-to-the-Apostles.

His Beatitude Archbishop Ieronymos congratulated His Holiness Kirill on his Name Day.

H.E. Andrei Kobyakov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Russian Federation read out greetings of the Byelorussian President Alexander Lukashenko to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill with his Name Day.

Metropolitan Nikitas of Dardanelles, Patriarchate of Constantinople; Archbishop Nifon of Philippopolis, representative of the Patriarch of Antioch and All the East, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Dodona, Orthodox Church of Greece, and others also greeted His Holiness.

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill thanked all those present for the greetings.

After the reception, the Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church met with Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin and with Mr. Sergei Ivanov, chief of staff Presidential Administration of Russia.
