On 20 November 2017, the second day of the Council’s work, His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine presented a report about the life of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church in the present context and her peacemaking service. He mentioned the seizure of churches belonging to the communities of the canonical Church, the initiatives to discriminate the largest religious organization in Ukraine, and the problem with the state registration of the parishes. Metropolitan Onufry noted, however, that despite challenges and problems in the relations of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with the state, certain positive tendencies are observed.

His Beatitude also touched upon a number of initiatives which provoked discusses in the Ukrainian society, for instance, the one to enshrine in legislation the right of a medical doctor not to procure an abortion on the grounds of conscience or another to introduce electronic passports.
