His Beatitude Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland called upon His Holiness Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople to convene a synaxis of the Primates of the Orthodox Churches in order to discuss the Ukrainian ecclesial issue, the Department for Information and Education of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reports, citing orthodoxia.info.

According to sources close to orthodoxia.info, the Primate of the Polish Orthodox Church sent a letter to the Ecumenical Patriarch, emphasizing the necessity to discuss the Ukrainian issue, as the situation is worsening with every passing day.

Metropolitan Sawa of Warsaw and All Poland who several days earlier had signed the joint statement with Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria called for calm in the Ukrainian ecclesial issue. He did not mention the topic of autocephaly in his letter, but stressed the necessity to hold a meeting of the Primates with the view of extensively discussing the ecclesial situation in the region.

It should be noted that His Beatitude Patriarch Theodore of Alexandria, while in Ukraine last week, publicly stated that he intended to inform the Primates of all the Orthodox Churches about the situation in the country.

As is known, on the 14th of September the Holy Synod, at its meeting chaired by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, called upon the Primates of the Local Orthodox Churches to initiate a pan-Orthodox discussion of the ecclesial situation in Ukraine.
