On 28 September 2018, after the Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in Odessa, His Beatitude Patriarch Theodore II of Alexandria and All Africa stated that he would do all in his power to inform everyone, all the Primates of the Local Churches, about the situation in Ukraine, the Department for Information and Education of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reports.

As the Patriarch of Alexandria noted, by attending the celebrations in the Odessa diocese he bore witness that the Ukrainian Orthodox Church is the only canonical Church in Ukraine.

“As we remember, heresies and schisms have been the major problem in the Church throughout the world,” His Beatitude Patriarch Theodore said, addressing all those present in the Holy Trinity Cathedral, “I want to ask you to remain faithful to your Church before the face of Christ.”

The Primate of the Church of Alexandria called upon everyone to pin their hopes on God. “The Church belongs to Jesus Christ, and He guides it. The Lord fights for His Church,” the Patriarch added.

Addressing all the present archpastors, clergy and laypeople, His Beatitude Theodore said, “I will do all in my power to inform everyone about the situation in Ukraine, all the Primates of the Local Churches, so that the canonical Church may remain the only canonical Orthodox Church and the Lord may always bestow His blessings upon it.”

According to the First Hierarch of the Church of Alexandria, the canonicity of a Church is the highest value. “Your Church is canonical, Orthodox and Holy,” His Beatitude Patriarch Theodore added.
