On September 19, 2019, Bishop Victor of Baryshev, head of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church representation to international organizations, with a blessing of His Beatitude Onufriy, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine, met in Warsaw with the Primate of the Polish Orthodox Church.

In the beginning of their talk, Bishop Victor conveyed to His Beatitude Sava, Metropolitan of Warsaw and All Poland, on behalf of His Beatitude Onufry, warm congratulations and expressed gratitude for his invariable prayerful support to the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.

Bishop Victor informed Metropolitan Sava about the situation of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church after the change in state power in Ukraine. He expressed reserved hope for a gradual cessation of persecution of the faithful and religious organizations of the canonical Church referring to public statements made by the first persons of the state concerning their non-interference in church affairs and stable desire to establish inter-confessional peace. Bishop Victor said in particular that in the last months the captures of Orthodox churches by ‘the OCU’ became less frequent, though did not ceased at all.

They also considered how ‘the Ukrainian church problem’ is discussed among Local Orthodox Churches and dealt with other issues of mutual concern.

His Beatitude Sava once again expressed his invariable support for the Ukrainian Orthodox Church and its Primate – His Beatitude Onufriy, Metropolitan of Kiev and All Ukraine.
