His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has sent the following greeting to the Primate of the Serbian Orthodox Church on the occasion of his enthronement as Archbishop of Peć, Metropolitan of Belgrade-Karlovci, Patriarch of Serbia:

Your Holiness, beloved brother in the Lord and concelebrant:

I wholeheartedly congratulate You on the anniversary of Your enthronement at the glorious throne of Archbishops of Peć, Metropolitans of Belgrade-Karlovci, Patriarchs of Serbia. The cross of primatial ministry of many Your predecessors had been heavy as they were sharing sorrows with their flock “for the word of God and for the testimony they had given (Rev 6:9).

In the trials that had befallen the Serbs the Russian Orthodox Church always supported them in the name of the love of Christ that during centuries united our Churches and people they care for. “Love never ends” (1 Cor 13:8), and willingness to help our Serbian brothers will ever live in the hearts of priests and laypersons of Moscow Patriarchate.

I pray to the Lord to hide the sacred land of Kosovo and Metohija under the shadows of His wings and make Your physical and spiritual power even stronger for many good years of Your patriarchal ministry.

I remain with warm recollections of our meetings in Moscow and with brotherly love in Christ.

+ KIRILL
