On September 8, 2014, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarhcate’s department for external church relations, during his pilgrimage to holy places in Romania, visited the Convent of the Nativity of the Mother of God at the Vorona commune. It was the day when the convent celebrated its patronal feast.

His Eminence celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the convent’s square. Many thousands of the faithful converged to the convent for the occasion.

After the Reading of the Gospel, Metropolitan Hilarion delivered a sermon with an emphasis on the Nativity of the Mother of God as the beginning of the salvation of humanity.
