His Beatitude Patriarch Ignatius of Antioch is buried
The late-lamented Patriarch Ignatius IV of the Great Antioch and All the East was buried in the Cathedral of the Assumption in Damascus on 10 December 2012.
Attending Requiem service, which was celebrated by the members of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Antioch led by the Locum Tenens, Metropolitan Saba of Bosra-Hauran and Jabal Al-Arab, were representatives of the Syrian public circles and thousands of the faithful, as well as Mohammad Jihad al-Laham, speaker of the Parliament of Syria, and ministers of the government.
On December 9, the coffin of the late Primate of the Church of Antioch was brought to Damascus from Beirut, where the burial service was conducted with participation of the delegations of the Local Orthodox Churches, including the Moscow Patriarchate’s delegation led by Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations.
