The High-Level Religious Leaders Group in Partnership with UNESCO held a meeting on 26 April 2010, during the World Summit of Religious Leaders.

The meeting was attended by Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshuqur Pasha-zade, chairman of the Caucasus Muslim Board, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos Karekin II of All Armenians, Archbishop Yukka Paarma of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Finland, Dr. Adel al-Falah, Kuwait Deputy Minister of Islam Affairs and Affairs of Waqf, Dr. Rahmatulla Inayatulla, head of the World Islamic League council, Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt, acting president of the Conference of European Rabbis, Rev. Fred Anderson, representative of Rabbi Arthur Schneier (Appeal to Conscience Foundation), Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations, and Mr. Badarch Dendev, director of the UNESCO Moscow office.

In his opening remarks, Patriarch Kirill pointed to the need in the present situation to set up a mechanism of dialogue on educational, scientific and cultural problems between religious leaders and international organizations on the platform provided by the UN.

After a discussion the participants unanimously adopted Proposals for the Religious Dimension in the Work of the High-Level Panel on Peace and Dialogue of Cultures. The signed document was presented to Mr. Dendev to be conveyed to UNESCO Director General Irina Bokova.
