Easter celebrated on Philippine Island of Mindanao

On 9 April 2018, Monday of the Bright Week, Rev. Stanislav Rasputin, a cleric of the Petrozavodsk diocese, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the community of St. Vicent of Lérins in the village of Salasan, Mindanao Island, Philippines, with the blessing of Archbishop Sergy of Solnechnogorsk, administrator of the Moscow Patriarchate’s parishes in East and Southeast Asia.

The service was celebrated in the Church Salvonic, English and Cebuano languages.

In preparation for the Feast of the Bright Resurrection of Christ, the parishioners of the community of St. Vicent of Lérins in three weeks built a church, around which the traditional Paschal procession with the cross took place.

After the Divine Liturgy the priest greeted the worshippers with the Pascha of Christ and presented them with Paschal gifts on behalf of Archbishop Sergy of Solnechnogorsk.

Later a choir which arrived on Mindanao from Ukraine gave a short concert.
