Hierarch of Ukrainian Orthodox Church takes part in celebrations commemorating Archbishop Chrysotomos I of Cyprus
On 22nd December 2019, the 12th anniversary of the demise of Archbishop Chrysostomos I of Cyprus, Metropolitan Sergy of Ternopol and Kremenets concelebrated, with the blessing of His Beatitude Metropolitan Onufry of Kiev and All Ukraine, with His Beatitude Archbishop Chrysostomos II of New Justiniana and All Cyprus who officiated at the Divine Liturgy in commemoration of his predecessor at the Cathedral of St. John the Theologian in Nicosia, Information and Education Department of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church reports, citing Romfea.gr.
Metropolitan Sergy of Ternopol and Kremenets had arrived in Cyprus the day before, leading a delegation of clergymen and laypeople of the Ternopol diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church (UOC).
With the blessing of the UOC Primate, the delegation members are undertaking a pilgrimage to the holy sites of Cyprus, meeting with clergy and hierarchs of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus and learning about the life of Orthodox Christians in this land.
On the first day the UOC representatives visited the Panagia Angeoloktisi Church in the village of Kiti, the Church of St. Lazarus in Larnaca, and the Monastery of St. George the Victory-Bearer, 30 kilometers from Larnaca. In the monastery the pilgrims prayed at the evening service and met with the brethren.
