Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, sent a message of greetings to the Primate of the Romanian Orthodox Church on the occasion of his Name Day. The text of the letter is given below.

Your Beatitude:

Please accept my heartfelt greetings with your Name Day.

At a young age you, disregarding the riches of this world, devoted yourself to studying theological disciplines, preparing to serve the Holy Church of our God and Lord Jesus Christ, “whose kingdom is an everlasting kingdom” (Dan 7:27).

Imitating in virtues the Holy Prophet Daniel, whose name was given to you at the monastic tonsure, by the prayerful intercession of this great saint pleasing unto God you with humility went “from strength to strength” (Ps 84:7) in your zealous pastoral and archpastoral labours, and was vouchsafed the election to the lofty Throne of Their Beatitudes the Patriarchs of the Romanian Orthodox Church.

On this day of spiritual celebration I wish you peace and good health for many and good years of your blessed Patriarchal ministry.

With respectful love in the Lord,

  /+Hilarion/
