On 7 October 2019, after session of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia had a telephone conversation with Archbishop John (Renneteau) of Dubna.

The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church informed Archbishop John of the results of the session of the Synod which considered a request of Archbishop John and clergy of the Archdiocese of Orthodox parishes of Russian tradition in Western Europe to join the Russian Orthodox Church. Canonical form of the Archdiocese’s organization with the Moscow Patriarchate was defined.

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill thanked Archbishop John for his pastoral efforts to implement the decision to restore unity with the Moscow Patriarchate.

Archbishop John expressed his gratitude to His Holiness and members of the Holy Synod for the decisions taken at the today’s session.
