On July 17, 2019, celebrations started at the St. Sergius Laura of the Holy Trinity to honour St. Sergius of Radonezh on his the commemoration day.

At the Trinity Cathedral, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill led the faithful in praising the saint and venerated his honourable relics.

In the afternoon, at the Trinity Cathedral, His Holiness presided over Small Vespers with reading of the akathistos to the saint.

His Holiness was assisted by Metropolitan Juvenaly of Krutitsy and Kolomna, Patriarchal Vicar of the diocese of Moscow; Metropolitan Vikenty of Tashkent and Uzbekistan; Metropolitan Varsonofy of St. Petersburg and Ladoga; Metropolitan Pavel of Minsk and Zaslavsk; Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations; Metropolitan Savva of Tver and Kashin, chancellor of the Moscow Patriarchate; Archbishop Ambrose of Vereya; Bishop Paramon of Sergiev Posad; Archimandrite Pavel (Krivonogov), dean of the St. Sergius Laura of the Holy Trinity; and the Laura brethren in holy orders.

According to tradition, the festive hierarchal divine services on the eve of the commemoration day of the Abbot of the Russian Land were celebrated in all the churches of the monastery he founded. With the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, All-Night Vigil at the Laura’s church of the Descent of the Holy Spirit was presided over by Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk.
