On 21st April 2019, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, attended a literary soiree, last in the series of readings dedicated to the Divine Comedy by Dante Alighieri. Mr. Francesco Forte, Consul General of Italy, acted as anchorman of the literary soiree held at the Central House of Writers in Moscow and presented his commentaries on Dante’s work.

Among those present were Archbishop Celestino Migliore, Apostolic Nuncio to the Russian Federation; Mr. Alexei Pushkov, chairman of the Federation Council’s Interim Commission on Information Policy and Cooperation with the Media; Mr. Vladimir Khotinenko, Russian film director; and other public and religious figures and representatives of art community.

Metropolitan Hilarion warmly greeted the Italian diplomat, thanking him for an opportunity to reflect together on the fundamental work of the great Italian poet.

Accompanying Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk was Deacon Andrei Titushkin of the DECR Secretariat for Far Abroad Countries.
