On 19 November 2018, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, visited the metochion of the Kykkos Monastery in the capital of Cyprus, Nicosia, where he met with the hegumen of the monastery, Metropolitan Nikiphoros of Kykkos and Tylliria. Taking part in the meeting were also Metropolitan Isaias of Tamasos and Oreini; Archpriest Pavel Povalyaev, rector of St. Nicholas parish in Limassol; Hierodeacon Grigory (Sokolov), DECR staff member; and Vyacheslav Lee, subdeacon to Metropolitan Hilarion. The participants in the meeting discussed various items on the inter-Orthodox agenda and some aspects of bilateral cooperation between the Russian Church and the Church of Cyprus.

Metropolitan Hilarion also met with Mr. Stanislav Osadchy, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Cyprus.

That same day the DECR chairman and those accompanying him departed for Moscow.
