On 15 October 2018, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia led the session of the Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church held at building of the Minsk diocesan administration. It was the first in history session of the Holy Synod in the land of Belarus.

His Holiness greeted members of the Synod and delivered a short introductory address.

Taking part in the session besides permanent members of the Holy Synod and the bishops invited to the winter session (September-February) was the retired Metropolitan Philaret (Vakhromeyev), honorary Patriarchal Exarch of Belarus, who retains his right to attend the sessions of the Holy Synod.
