Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, congratulated His Beatitude Hieronymos II, Archbishop of Athens and All Greece, on his Name Day. The text reads as follows:

Your Beatitude:

Please accept my heartfelt greeting with the commemoration day of your heavenly patron – St. Jerome of Stridonium.

The saint has gained respect throughout the Christian world by his zealous service to God, the austere life and outstanding erudition. Strengthened by his prayerful support, you have been guiding Christ’s flock for many years “willingly, as God would have you do it” (1 Pet 5:2).

On this festive day I wish Your Beatitude peace, spiritual and physical strength, and God’s bountiful aid in your Primatial labours for the good of the Holy Orthodox Church of Greece and the God-loving Greek people

With respect and love in the Lord,

+ Hilarion
