On May 6, 2018, the Sunday of the Samaritan Woman, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations (DECR), who is on a working trip to the Holy Land at the instruction of Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, took part in the Divine Liturgy celebrated in the church of the Holy Martyr Photina the Samaritan Woman over the St. Jacob’s Well in Nablus (ancient Shechem).

The services was presided over by His Beatitude Theophilos III, Patriarch of the Holy City of Jerusalem and All Palestine, who was assisted by Metropolitan Kyriakos of Nazareth and Archbishop Aristarchos of Constantina (Patriarchate of Jerusalem), Archpriest Nikolay Balashov, DECR vice-chairman; Archimandrite Alexander (Yelisov), head of the Russian Ecclesiastical Mission in Jerusalem; and Hieromonk Dometian (Markarian), deputy head of the mission.

After the liturgy, the Moscow Patriarchate representatives were invited for a common meal, after which there was a talk between the DECR chairman and the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Jerusalem. They were joined in their talk by Archbishop Aristarchos, Archpriest Nikolay Balashov and Archimandrite Alexander (Yelisov).
