On 20 March 2018, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), met with H.E. Ihab Nasr, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Arab Republic of Egypt to the Russian Federation.

They were joined in the meeting by Osman Magdy, the first secretary of the Egyptian Embassy, and deacon Andrei Titushkin, a staff member of the DECR Secretariat for far abroad countries.

Metropolitan Hilarion warmly greeted the gusts at the oldest Synodal department in charge for external church relations and told them about fruitful cooperation and the successfully implemented joint projects of the Russian Orthodox Church, the Orthodox Church of Alexandria, the Coptic Church and the Muslim communities of Egypt.

Ambassador Nasr thanked Metropolitan Hilarion for the meeting and shared his reminiscences of his work in Moscow as deputy head of the Egyptian diplomatic mission in the middle 2000s.

Discussed were issues of mutual interest, and willingness to bilateral cooperation was expressed.
