On 10 December 2017, in Moscow, the members of the Interreligious working group for rendering humanitarian aid to the population of Syria of the Presidential Council for Cooperation with Religious Organizations – Hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov), DECR secretary for inter-Christian relations, and Mufti Albir Krganov, head of the Spiritual Assembly of the Russian Muslims – met with Dr. Mohammed Abdul Sattar al-Sayeed, Minister of Awqaf of the Syrian Arab Republic, who was in Russia on a brief working visit.

The participants in the meeting discussed cooperation between the Interreligious working group and the Ministry of Awqaf of the Syrian Arab Republic. Mr. Abdul Sattar al-Sayeed expressed his appreciation for the efforts of Russia and the Russian people in liberating the Syrian land from terrorists, and thanked religious communities of Russia for rendering humanitarian assistance. The Syrian minister emphasized the role of the Russian Orthodox Church in helping the Syrian people and expressed his sincere gratitude to His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia. The Ministry of Awqaf of the Syrian Arab Republic is willing to render all the possible assistance in organizing humanitarian actions in the territory of Syria within the framework of the Interreligious working group’s activities.
