On 29 August 2017, a group of the Roman Catholic priests, studying at the Pontifical Universities in Rome and visiting Russia within the framework of the Summer Institute of Ss. Cyril and Methodius Theological Institute of Postgraduate Studies, visited the Department for External Church Relations.

With the blessing of the DECR chairman, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, Hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov), DECR secretary for inter-Christian relations, met with the guests and told them about the history and activities of the oldest Synodal institution of the Moscow Patriarchate, as well as about the current relationships between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church.

In 2017, students of the Summer Institute will learn about the work of the Synodal departments of the Moscow Patriarchate and visit educational institutions, monasteries and holy sites of the Russian Orthodox Church in Moscow, St. Petersburg and Novgorod. The group is accompanied by Rev. Hyacinthe Destivelle of the Pontifical Council for Promoting Christian Unity.
