His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia expressed his condolences over terrorist attack s in the capital of Iran. Seventeen people were killed and forty-three wounded as a result of the attacks.

To Ayatollah Khamenei, the Supreme Spiritual leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran

Dear brother:

I was deeply worried by the news of the terrorist attacks carried out against the Iranian Parliament building and the Mausoleum of Ruhollah Khomeini in Tehran leaving civilians killed and seriously wounded. Please accept my sincere condolences.

Terrorists are trying to destabilize the situation in the country sowing fear and panic among people. They go to any length for achieving their criminal ends and trample the value of human life and moral standards of all religions. Political and religious leaders and the right-minded forces in society must give a resolute rebuff to extremist ideology.

In these days of mourning I wish people of Iran firmness of the spirit and courage in overcoming the trial that has befallen them.

With profound condolences,

+KIRILL

PATRIARCH OF MOSCOW AND ALL RUSSIA
