On 27 April 2017, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), met with Mr. Vuk Jeremić, former Serbian Foreign Minister and president of Serbian Centre for International Relations and Sustainable Development. Taking part in the meeting, which was held at the premises of the Ss Cyril and Methodius Theological Institute for Post-Graduate Studies, also were Mr. Zdravko Ponoš, executive director of the Centre; archpriest Sergy Zvonarev, DECR secretary for far abroad countries; and Mr. Dmitry Petrovsky, a staff member of the DECR secretariat for inter-Orthodox relations.

Metropolitan Hilarion warmly greeted the guests and told them about the Patriarchal metochion on the territory of which the Institute is located, educational process, and students from Serbia.

At the request of Mr. Jeremić the DECR chairman told him about the preparation for the historical meeting of Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia with Pope Francis held in Havana in February 2016, their joint declaration and prospects of relationship between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Roman Catholic Church.

Discussed was the inner decoration of the Cathedral of St. Sava in Belgrade as Russia and the Russian Orthodox Church are taking part in the work for its adornment, as well as other matters of mutual interest.
