Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate department for external church relations, has sent Archbishop Seraphim of Sendai, a hierarch of the Japanese Autonomous Orthodox Church, a message of greetings on the occasion of his name day.

Your Eminence,

On the Day of St. Saraphim of Sarov, an Old Russia’s great ascetic and your heavenly patron, I cordially greet you on your name day.

Strengthened by the intercession of this holy man of God, you glow in your spirit as you are fulfilling your archpastoral service and by the example of your own virtuous life teaching the faithful of the Holy Church of Christ to glorify and thank God Who according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead (1 Pet. 1:3).

Prayerfully sharing this festivity with you, I sincerely wish you, dear Vladyka in the Lord, God’s inexhaustible help in your work for the good of Orthodoxy and for spreading the truths of the faith of Christ in the Japanese islands, sound health and abundant spiritual blessing from the All-generous Heavenly Father.

With love in the Lord,

Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk

Chairman of the Department for External Church Relations
