On 27 August 2016, a delegation of the State Administration for Religious Affairs (SARA) of the People’s Republic of China visited the St. Petersburg Theological Academy and after an excursion to the Laura of St Alexander Nevsky met with Metropolitan Amvrosy of Peterhof, rector of the Academy.

Mr. Chen Zongrong, SARA deputy director, Ms Dai Chenjing, director of the SARA 4th Department, and other members of the delegation saw around the Theological Academy and visited two chapels, of the Holy Apostle John the Theologian and of the Dormition of the Mother of God.

The guests also visited the student halls of residence, where priest Alexander Uy Shi had lived while studying at the Academy. Archbishop Amvrosy ordained him on the 4th of October 2015. Father Alexander is the first Chinese priest who studied at the Theological Academy and was later ordained with the approval of the PRC authorities.

A reception at the refectory of the museum followed the meeting with His Eminence Amvrosy, Press Service of the St Petersburg metropolia reports.
