On July 7, 2016, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations (DECR), met with Russia’s ambassador to Poland S. Andreyev. Present at the meeting was Olga Mazur, DECR secretariat for the far-abroad.

Metropolitan Hilarion warmly welcomed his guest. Among the topics they discussed in their talk were relationships between the Russian and Polish Orthodox Churches and bilateral contacts between the Moscow Patriarchate and the Roman Catholic Church, with a new impetus given to them in August 2012 by the Joint Message of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and Russia and the president of the Polish Bishops’ Conference Archbishop J. Michalik to the peoples of Russia and Poland. They also discussed the internal political situation in Poland.
