On 20 April 2016, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, delivered a lecture in the assembly hall of the Moscow Theological Academy, in which he focused on the meeting that had taken place between His Holiness Patriarch Kirill and Pope Francis in Havana on February 12.

Among those present in the assembly hall were Archbishop Yevgeny of Vereya, chairman of the Russian Orthodox Church’s Education Committee and rector of the Moscow Theological Academy and Seminary, as well as the faculty and students of the Moscow Theological Academy.

Addressing the audience before the lecture, Archbishop Yevgeny said, in particular, “In today’s lecture, the DECR chairman will speak about the significant meeting between the Primate of our Church, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill, and Pope Francis. I think it is important to hear about the meeting from Metropolitan Hilarion who had taken part in its preparation and had been its witness and participant.”

To conclude his lecture, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk answered numerous questions put by those present in the assembly hall.

Archbishop Yevgeny of Vereya thanked the DECR chairman for his lecture and wished him God’s help in his work.
