On November 13, 2015, the Coordinating Committee for Cooperation between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Church of England met at the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations (DECR). The meeting was chaired by Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the DECR, and Bishop Richard Chartres of London.

The attendees from the Russian Orthodox Church were Hieromonk Stephen (Igumnov), DECR secretary for inter-Christian relations, Hieromonk Ioann (Kopeikin), pro-rector of the Ss Cyril and Methodius Institute of Post-Graduate Studies, and A. Champion, a DECR staff member. From the Church of England there were the Revd Lesley Nathaniel and Anders Litzell, and the Revd Clive Fairclough, chaplain of the Anglican parish in Moscow.

The sides discussed current items of the agenda of the bilateral dialogue concerning especially the development of cooperation in the academic sphere. Metropolitan Hilarion proposed to initiate programs to enable Russian Orthodox students to continue studies in Great Britain while representatives of the Church of English to study at the Ss Cyril and Methodius Institute of Post-Graduate Studies.
