Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate, sent a message to His Beatitude Patriarch Theodoros II of Alexandria and All Africa, congratulating His Beatitude on his Name Day. The text of the message is given below.

Your Beatitude:

Please, accept my respectful and cordial greetings with your Name Day – the commemoration day of the Holy Great Martyr Theodore of Tyre.

The life of the Martyr Theodore shows an example of unshakable faithfulness to Christ, humble obedience to the will of the Heavenly Father, and wondrous care for the people of God. Imitating you heavenly patron, you perform your primatial ministry with zealousness for God, caring tirelessly for the prosperity of your God-loving flock and striving to be an example of the believers, in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity (1 Tim. 4:12).

It is with particular satisfaction that I would like to note Your Beatitude’s contribution to the development of relations between the Patriarchate of Alexandria and the Russian Orthodox Church, in which you will always find support, love and understanding.

On this day of celebration for you and the whole Church of Alexandria, I prayerfully wish Your Beatitude good health, inexhaustible spiritual joy, and God’s help. I also wish peace and prosperity to your flock.

With reverence and love in the Lord,

/+Hilarion/
