On 6 November 2014, the Church celebrates to an icon of the Mother of God called the ‘Joy of All the Afflicted.’ Celebrating the Divine Liturgy at the church dedicated to this icon was Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR).

Concelebrating were archimandrite Andrei (Krekhov), abbot of the Holy Trinity Monastery in Ryazan and clerics of the church. Leading the deacons was protodeacon Vladimir Nazarkin, assistance to the DECR chairman. The Synodal choir conducted by Alexei Puzakov, the honoured artist of Russia. Hymns form ‘The Divine Liturgy’ by the great Russian composer, Petr Tchaikovsky, were sung on his commemoration day.

After the Litany of Fervent Supplication, Metropolitan Hilarion read prayer for peace in Ukraine.

Magnification to the ‘Joy of All the Afflicted,’ was celebrated.

After the service Metropolitan Hilarion delivered a homily.
