On 24 April 2014, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations and of the Synodal Biblical and Theological Commission, Rector of the Ss Cyril and Methodius Institute of Post-Graduate Studies (IPGS) and member of the supervisory council of the Russian State University for the Humanities (RGGU), took part in the meeting of its Academic Board.

During the meeting, the RGGU rector, Professor Yefim Pivovar presented Metropolitan Hilarion with the diploma and regalia of doctor honoris causa awarded to him in consideration of his high merits in science, education and culture.

Prof. Pivovar noted Metropolitan Hilarion’s work and mention the RGGU and IPGS common projects which include courses for archivists from the dioceses, round tables, and other events.

Metropolitan Hilarion expressed his gratitude for conferring the degree on him and delivered a comprehensive and informative report.
