Metropolitan Hilarion meets with the Ambassador of Kuwait

On 18^th March 2014, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), met with H.E. Abdulaziz A. Aladwani, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Kuwait to the Russian Federation. They were joined in the meeting by Me. Jamal A. Alrefaie, second secretary of the Embassy, Very Revd. Sergiy Zvonarev, DECR secretary for far abroad countries, and Ms Olga Mazur, a staff member of the same secretariat.

Metropolitan Hilarion greeted the guests at the Synodal institution responsible for external activities of the Russian Church and told them about the efforts undertaken the Moscow Patriarchate for the soonest settlement of conflict in Syria and peaceful solution of the Syrian problem. The DECR chairman shared with the guests his concern for the dire situation of Christians in the region, which has been rapidly de-christianized in the recent years.

The ambassador of the State of Kuwait thanked Metropolitan Hilarion for warm reception, told him about the situation with religion in his country, and expressed hope for the development of relations between the State of Kuwait and the Moscow Patriarchate in matters of mutual interest.
