On May 20, 2013, the Organizing Committee for the Days of Russia abroad with inclusion of religious events met for a regular session at the Moscow Patriarchate Department for External Church Relations. The meeting was chaired by the co-chair of the Committee, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, DECR chairman, Ms. A. Manilova, deputy minister of culture, and G. Gatilov, deputy foreign minister.

 

The meeting was also attended by the DECR representatives, Archpriest Nikolay Balashov and Archimandrite Philaret (Bulekov), DECR vice-chairmen, and Archpriest Sergiy Zvonaev, DECR secretary for the far-abroad countries; and from the Ministry of Culture, V. Duda, director of the department for information policy and international relations, N. Dikova, deputy director of the department, and I. Kornilov, head of the department of the Russian Museum Fund.

 

The meeting considered the improvement of the cooperation mechanism in implementing the project for the Days of Russia abroad and proposals set forth by the Russian Orthodox Church, the Ministry of Culture and the Foreign Ministry for events planned to be held in 2014 and subsequent years.

 

The meeting elected Ms. A. Shustova, senior expert of the Ministry of Culture’s department for information policy and international relations, as a new executive secretary of the Organizing Committee.
