Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, sent the following greeting to His Beatitude Patriarch Daniel of Romania with his Name Day:

Your Beatitude,

Kindly accept my cordial congratulations on the your Name Day.

Light and understanding and excellent wisdom are found in you (Dan 5:14) – these words said about your heavenly patron, St. Daniel the Prophet of God, may be ascribed to Your Beatitude too as you have won broad renown in the Orthodox world and outside it by your theological works and your gift as ardent preacher of the Gospel’s message. You have returned your God-given gifts to the Lord hundredfold, using them to promote the growth and prosperity of the flock entrusted to your care.

Sharing today’s feast of the faithful of the Romanian Orthodox Church, I wish Your Holiness generous favours from the Giver of Every Blessing the Lord Jesus Christ.

With respectful love in the Lord,

+ Hilarion
