Patriarch Kirill’s message to participants in theological talks between Russian Orthodox Church and Evangelical Church in Germany
His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia has sent the following message of greetings to the participants in the theological talks between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Evangelical Church in Germany:
Your Eminences,
Dear Fathers,
Brothers and Sisters:
I cordially greet you as you are to resume in a new format the bilateral talks between representatives of the Russian Orthodox Church and the Evangelical Church in Germany, held for the first time in Southern Russia, in Rostov-on-Don.
Broad cultural, economic and political relations between Russia and Germany have direct bearing on the life of believers in our two countries. The Christian view of the processes taking place today in the multi-polar world is of special importance for the whole society. The horizons of activity opened for Christians by the modern time full of challenges and unsettled contradictions reveal new vectors of inter-church cooperation.
The present talks devoted to the theme ‘Christian Churches in a Multicultural Society’ will allow exchanging reflections on many important problems. What forms will the Christian preaching take in the new situation? What can we learn from each other? These questions acquire today a new importance and require common actions.
I wish you blessed success in your work and hope that the talks ahead will make a worthy contribution to the broadening of our bilateral cooperation.
+ KIRILL
Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia
