Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, sent the following greeting to the Primate of the Orthodox Church of Cyprus, His Beatitude Chrysostomos II, Archbishop of New Justiniana and All Cyprus:

Your Beatitude:

I respectfully and sincerely greet you with the remarkable for the Church of Cyprus dates: the anniversary of your election and enthronement as Archbishop of Cyprus, your Name Day, and the fortieth anniversary of your Primatial ministry at God’s Altar.

While obeying the exhortations of St. Paul, ‘whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus’ (Col 3:17) and ‘whatever your task, put yourselves into it, for the Lord and not for your masters’ (Col 3:23), you have been wisely guiding the Orthodox Church of Cyprus, also taking care for Orthodox Christians in fraternal Local Orthodox Churches in the Middle East region. We highly appreciate your archpastoral care for the Russian-speaking Orthodox living in Cyprus.

Sharing the joy of the Holy Church of Cyprus on these festive days, I pray to the Chief Shepherd Christ for bestowing His gracious help to Your Beatitude in your noble and responsible primatial ministry and for your spiritual and physical strength for many and good years.

With respect and love in the Lord,

+Hilarion
