On 28 May 2012, Metropolitan Hilarion, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), made a working trip to Ukraine with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.

Metropolitan Hilarion, accompanied by archpriest Igor Yakimchuk, DECR secretary for inter-Orthodox relations, and Mr. Leonid Sevastianov, executive director of the St. Gregory the Theologian Charity Foundation, took part in the international conference on “The Ukrainian Orthodox Church at the turn of millenniums” and presented a re[port “On canonical preconditions of the Kharkov Episcopal Council-1992 of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.”

Metropolitan Hilarion met with His Beatitude Metropolitan Vladimir of Kiev and All Ukraine at St. Panteleimon’s Monastery in Kiev. DECR chairman warmly greeted the Primate of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with the 20th anniversary of his election as Metropolitan of Kiev and wished him good health and God’s help in his responsible ministry.

That same day Metropolitan Hilarion returned to Moscow.
