On January 15th, 2011, after the All-Night Vigil service celebrated at the Church of the “Joy to All the Afflicted” Icon of the Mother of God., Metropolitan Hilarion, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations (DECR), tonsured Natalia Demidova, a DECR staff member. She took the veil on the commemoration day of St. Seraphim of Sarov and was named Seraphima in honour of the saint.

Also praying at the church were sisters from the Intercession Convent.

After the office, Metropolitan Hilarion addressed his words of exhortation to the new nun and wished her God’s help and protection, the intercession of the Mother of God and prayers of St. Seraphim of Sarov to be with her.
