On November 23, 2010, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, who is in Kiev for Metropolitan Vladimir’s 75th birthday celebrations, met with Ukrainian President Victor Yanukovich.

The meeting took place at the Presidential Administration building after the Divine Liturgy at the refectory church of the Kiev Laura of the Caves.

Mr. Yanukovich thanked His Holiness for his participation in the jubilee celebrations and noted that the Patriarchal visit gave a special note to this event so important in the life of Ukraine.

In his response, Patriarch Kirill said that the changes taking place at present in Ukraine have already been of visible benefit to the people of the country and thanked the president for the continued attention he gave to the needs of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church, the Patriarchal Pres Service has reported.
