DECR chairman completes his visit to Georgia

On 16 October 2010, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, completed his visit to Georgia, where he took part in the celebration of the millennium of Svetitshoveli cathedral with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia.
Metropolitan Hilarion was seen off at the airport by Metropolitans Theodore of Akhaltsikhi and Klarjeti, Sergiy of Nekress, and Seraphim of Borjomi and Bakuriani, archpriest Georgiy Kharazashvili, a staff member of the Georgian Patriarchate, and archimandrite Roman (Lukin), a cleric of St. John Theologian’s church in Tbilisi.
On October 13-16, the delegation led by Metropolitan Hilarion celebrated Divine Liturgy at Svetitshoveli cathedral, visited churches and monasteries in the Tbilisi, Alaverdy and Nekress dioceses, and prayed at the relics of St. Nino, Equal-to-the-Apostles in Bodbe.
