On 15 September 2010, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriachate’s Department for External Church Relations, currently on a visit to Estonia with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, visited the Centre of Russian Culture in Tallinn.

Yu. Polyakov, director of the Centre and a deputy of the Tallinn City Assembly, greeted Metropolitan Hilarion and told him about the Centre, noting that its main task is work with the Russian-speaking inhabitants of Tallinn, especially in the field of education. To develop education programmes aimed at the introduction of the young generation to the heritage of the Russian spiritual culture, the Centre is elaborating a programme of on-line broadcasting of lectures delivered by professors and teachers of the higher education establishments of the Russian Orthodox Church.

The DECR chairman saw exhibitions of pictures and photos, the chamber and concert halls of the Centre, and auditoria. In memory of his visit, Metropolitan Hilarion presented Yu. Polyakov with an icon of the Mother of God made in the workshops of the Moscow Patriarchate.
