On July 31, 2010, an anniversary of the heroic victory of the Righteous Admiral Fyodor Ushakov over the Ottoman Fleet, Metropolitan Kirill of Varna and Veliki Preslav, Bulgarian Orthodox Church, celebrated the Divine Liturgy at the Bolgarevo village near Kaliakra Cape.

Among the worshippers were Russian General Consul in Varna Yu. Solovyev, Kavarna Mayor Zonko Zonev and representatives of the Varna governor.

In his speech, Metropolitan Kirill stressed the great importance of that battle, saying, ‘The victory gained by the holy Admiral Fyodor Ushakov inspired the enslaved Bulgarians and convinced them that salvation would come from Russia!’

After the service Mr. Solovyev and the treasurer of the Russian Orthodox Church Representation in Sophia, Hieromonk Zotik Gayevsky, laid flowers at the memorial to the Righteous Admiral Fyodor Ushakov.
