On 25 July 2010, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, currently on a visit to Ukraine as a member of the delegation accompanying His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, visited the Church of the Iberian Icon of the Mother of God in Dnepropetrovsk. The construction of the church began ten years ago and is nearing completion.
The DECR chairman was greeted by the rector, archpriest Nikolai Nesprava, who told the high guest about the life of the parish, including work with children and the youth. Metropolitan Hilarion saw the lower church, in which the iconostasis made of onyx has been installed, and the upper church, where painting and decorating is taking place. Metropolitan Hilarion gave his archpastoral blessing to the rector and the parishioners.
