On 25 July 2010, His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia arrived in the capital of Ukraine from Dnepropetrovsk. At the “Borispol” airport he shared his impressions of his visit to the diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church with the journalists. He said in particular:

“I have very good impressions of my visit to Odessa and Dnepropetrovsk. Though I visited Odessa several times, it was my first visit to Dnepropetrovsk. This has given me an opportunity to see how people live and to understand the life in Ukraine at present. Indeed, it is better to see once than to hear or read it one hundred times. I have seen energetic and optimistic people, who are largely motivated by their ardent and strong Orthodox faith.

“I am deeply convinced that Ukraine awaits a very fine future, and may God grant that we all work toward this future!”

Answering the question about his meeting with the Ukrainian President V. Yanukovich, His Holiness underscored that this meeting was of a personal pastoral nature, and political problems have not been discussed.
