On 15 May 2010, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, Chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for external Church Relations, currently in Italy with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia, visited Consulate-General of the Russian Federation in Milan and met with consul-general A. Paramonov.

They discussed problems of compatriots living in Italy. Metropolitan Hilarion underscored the necessity of teaching the fundamentals of Orthodox culture in a school at the consulate, saying also that contacts of the youth with a priest would help to preserve national and cultural identity of young people who reside far from their Motherland.

The construction of a new church for the Russian Orthodox parish was discussed, too.

Metropolitan Hilarion presented A. Paramonov with his new nook “Patriarch Kirill. His Life and World Outlook.”
