Rev. George Zavershinsky, DECR communication director and member of the Church Post-Graduate and Doctoral School’s academic council, acting on the blessing of Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk as rector of the School, met on 22 April 2010 with the Most Rev. Diarmuid Martin, Roman Catholic Archbishop of Dublin. They were joined in their talk by Rev. Nikolay Yevseev, a cleric of the Patriarchal Church of Sts Peter and Paul.

Father George informed the archbishop about the aims of the Church Post-Graduate School, its current programs and development thrusts as well as its intention to give special attention to training highly-qualified theologians and church diplomats in accordance with the Bologna system of higher European education. The archbishop shared his experience of teaching the basics of Christian faith in church schools in Dublin and the province and expressed concern over the gap remaining between training and practice in parish life.

On behalf of the Church Post-Graduate School’s rector, Father George thanked the Archbishop of Dublin for supporting the language training of Russian Orthodox clergy and teachers in Ireland. They specified the opportunities for a greater number of post-graduates and doctoral candidates to take summer language courses in Ireland with the support of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin. In conclusion of the meeting Father George gave Archbishop Martin an icon of Our Lady of Vladimir and a video-disk with the music of Metropolitan Hilarion’s Passions According to St. Matthews.
