On April 8, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, head of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations, met with Chief Rabbi of Moscow Pinchas Goldschmidt in his capacity of acting president of the Conference of European Rabbis. Participating in the meeting were also Rev. Sergiy Zvonarev, DECR acting secretary for the far-abroad countries, and V. Kipshidze, DECR staff member.

They discussed prospects for cooperation between the Department for External Church Relations and the Conference of European Rabbis. The need was pointed out to elaborate a common position on the presence of religious tradition in the life of modern society.
