Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk meets with Moldovan Communist Party leader

Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s department for external church relations, met on 21 March 2010 with the Moldovan Communist Party leader, V. Voronin, former president of the Republic of Moldova.

They exchanged opinions on prospects for the development of the situation in Moldova and the place of the Church in the social life of the country. The DECR chairman thanked Mr. Voronin for his contribution to the high level of church-state relations achieved in Moldova in the years when he was the head of the state.

As a token of the meeting, Metropolitan Hilarion presented Mr. Voronin with a copy of his book Patriarch Kirill: His Life and Worldview.
