Metropolitan Hilarion meets with the Chairman of the Russian Accounts Chamber Sergei Stepashin

On 8 February 2010, Metropolitan Hilarion of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate Department for external church relations and head of the Ss. Cyril and Methodius Postgraduate and Doctoral Programme of the Russian Orthodox Church visited the Accounts Chamber of the Russian Federation at the invitation of its chairman Sergei Stepashin.

The archpastors visited the Church of St. Sergius of Radonezh at the Accounts Chamber consecrated by His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia on 14 January 2010.

Metropolitan Hilarion told the chairman of the Accounts Chamber about the activities and tasks of the Department for external church relations, and about the development of the Postgraduate Programme of the Church.

Sergei Stepashin informed Metropolitan Hilarion of the Chamber’s work as well as of the activities of the chaired by him Imperial Orthodox Palestine Society in the Holy Land.

Also discussed was cooperation between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Accounts Chamber.

Metropolitan Hilarion, rector of the Church of the “Joy to All the Afflicted” Icon, invited Sergei Stepashin and his wife to visit the church.

Taking part bin the meeting were L. Sevastianov, assistant to the DECR chairman, and Ms. Ye. Agapova, assistant to the chairman of the Accounts Chamber.
